A covering letter is an absolute necessity for every job application. Without it, your CV application is incomplete. A CV is not a stand-alone document and it needs a covering letter to confirm and draw out your CV achievements and benefits. The purpose of a covering letter is to sell your benefits and cover off any concerns that the employer might have about you, your CV application.
When you are writing your covering letter you need to ensure that it compliments your CV structure and CV layout.
Most CV books have
advice about what to include in a covering
letter. The tip is not to copy these examples but to adapt
covering letters that you
like. The key is to refer to examples
and to make it your own covering
letter.
